Halloween Craft and Games Club at the Palace Stables


Hallowe’en, All Hallows Eve, Beggars Night, Day of the Dead and All Saint’s Day are just a few of the names given to the Celebration and Superstition of this centuries old festival.  Many believe Hallowe’en links to Pagan ceremonies, others believe it’s a bit of harmless fun and a chance to dress up or play Trick or Treat, perfect for scaring the living daylights out of someone just for fun.  Whatever you think of Halloween, FOR or AGAINST, this is the guide for you if you are planning on taking your children to a Halloween Event in Northern Ireland in 2018.

We have scoured the internet, poured lotions and potions into our cauldron and gazed into our crystal ball to bring you, what we think are, the TOP 18 Halloween Events For Kids in Northern Ireland.  We have done all of the hard work and taken away the hassle of looking for yourself…aren’t we good to you, oh yes we are!  So, without further ado, lets crack on with our TOP 18…we have listed them in order of County to make it easier for you to see what’s on in your local area; and here they are:



Date: 31st October 2018
Time: 18:00 – 20:00
Price: free to all

Monster Mash is Belfast’s BIGGEST and BEST Halloween and Firework event.  Drop by the Titanic Quarters and celebrate the weird and wonderful this Halloween.

  • breathtaking shows of fire
  • street-theatre
  • live music,

tip: firework display commences at 20:00 and lasts approximately 15 minutes.  wrap up warm and take a lightweight waterproof jacket.

2.  BOO AT THE ZOO – Belfast Zoo, Belfast

Date: 27th-28th October 2018
Time: 10:00 – 16:00 with last admission at 14:30

Plenty to do at Belfast Zoo this Halloween.  Trick or Treat your little monsters to a day of ghoulish fun with lots of spooktacular activities including:

  • freaky face painting
  • creepy crafts
  • terrifying talks from the keepers

tip: don’t forget to dress to impress, children aged 4 – 16 in FULL fancy dress receive FREE entry (t&c’s apply, see website for further info).


Date: 27th October – 2nd November 2018
Time: 10:00 and 14:00
Price: children £10 each, accompanying adults & under 2’s free

Search for Ghosts and Ghouls as you meander through the spooky Colin Glen Forest Park.

  • pick and carve out a pumpkin
  • storytelling
  • collect your ‘I have met the Gruffalo Certificate’ and Sticker on departure.

tip: take a raincoat, a good pair of walking shoes/boots and money for the gift shop.


4.  HALLOWEEN CRAFTS AND GAMES CLUB – Palace Stables, Armagh

Date: 31st October 2018
Times: 10:00 – 16:00
Price: £12.50 for 1st child in family, £10.00 for 2nd & 3rd child.  Book before 24th October & get 20% discount.

Cauldrons, creepy crafts and ghastly ghouls await you at the Palace Stables.

  • fancy dress is welcome

tip: craft club is only available for children aged 5-12

Time: 12:00 – 16:00
Price: adults £6.00, children £2.50, family £14.50 and under 5’s are free

The half-term holidays are nearly upon us and we have lots to keep the children (big and small) entertained this Halloween.  Dust off your broomsticks and capes.  Visit The Argory this Halloween for a spooky week of frighteningly good fun!

6.  LITTLE SPOOKS – Navan Centre and Fort, Armagh

Date: 27th October 2018
Time: 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00 (time depends on the date of visit)
Price: adults and children aged 4-16 £7.00, Aged 3 and under are free

Enjoy a perfect Halloween experience.  Great for boys and girls who aren’t afraid of enjoying some ghastly ghouls and spooky surprises!  Walk  along the winding path to the witches lair.  Discover what nasty ingredients go into a bubbling cauldron.  Will you be brave enough?

  • sample a truly gruesome brew freshly prepared with eye of newt and wing of bat, just for you!

tip: under 3’s still require a ticket even though they are free, and each show lasts around 1h 20m


7.  AWAKENING THE WALLS – Derry/Londonderry

Date: 28th – 30th October 2018
Time: 18:00 – 20:30
Price: free to all

Be careful what you wish for, for you are among warlocks and witches, your screams will not be heard.  Celebrate all things supernatural as you walk a trail around the City Walls.

tip: as there are some steps on the trail, provision will be made for disabled access.

8.  PIRATES OF THE CREGGAN LAKE – Derry/Londonderry

Date: 27th October – 4th November 2018
Time: times vary, contact venue for further info
Price: £5.00 per child, £2.00 per adult

Ahoy there maties!  Why are pirates called pirates?  They just arrrrrrrr!  Dress up in your pirate outfit and join us on a wet and wild water based halloween treasure hunt.

  • price Includes boat based treasure hunt, Halloween treat and colouring in activity.
  • halloween themed treasure hunt with Captain Jolly Jim
  • tea/coffee/biscuits available for adults after the treasure hunt.

tip: advanced booking is essential as spaces are limited.

Time: 19:00 onwards
Price: free to all

Street performers from around the world descend on the Walled City for a night of illuminated spectacle like no other.  A frightastic carnival atmosphere with frightening floats and fearless fiends.

tip: arrive early, the parade is extremely popular and gets very busy, and be sure to stay and watch the spectacular fireworks which commence at 20:15 along the river bank.


10:  HALLOWEEN FAMILY FESTIVAL – The Ulster Folk & Transport Museum, Cultra

Date:  31st October 2018
Time:  10:00 – 16:00
Price:  £6 per child, £11 per adult

Dress to scare and join in celebrating the witching festival of Hallowe’en!  Embark on a mysterious adventure through the museum’s misty dwellings and dark train carriages Do you dare to be scared?

  • carve your own family turnip lantern
  • watch out for the Witch in our creepy carriage
  • watch Science2Life shows with ‘Scientific Sue’
  • creepy crawlies show
  • fancy dress competition

PUMPKINFEST AT CASTLEWARD – Castleward, Strangford

Date: 20th October 2018
Time: 12:00 – 17:00
Price: adult £8.60, children £4.30, family ticket £21.55

If scooping out brains isn’t for you, have a go at pumpkin carving instead.  Pick your pumpkin, create a scarily artistic design, then sit back and feel proud of your creation.

tip: take a camera to capture the wonderful autumn colours around the estate.  Dogs are welcome and must be kept on a lead.

12.  HALLOWEEN AT CASTLE ESPIE – WWT, Castle Espie Wetland Centre

Date:  27th -31st October 2018
Time:  09:30 – 17:00
Price:  children age 4-16 £4.54, under 4’s are free, adult £8.18 plus concessions are available

Enjoy a frightfully fun discovery day at Castle Espie this Halloween.  Jump on your broomstick and experience the incredible journey Brent Geese make from the Arctic to WWT Castle Espie.  We will also have Broomstick Flight Training.

Brand new for 2018.  Watch out for predators during this exciting interactive migration course.  Land safely and you’ll get to take your very own broomstick pilot license home with you.  You can also experience the spooky side of Castle Espie’s Wetland Wildlife with our NEW Beastly Bat Trail.  Are you brave enough to see what ghastly things are lurking inside each box?

13.  HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR – Marble Arch Caves, Enniskillen

Price: adult £9.80, children £6.70, family (2A + 2C) £23.70, family (2A+ 3C) £26.80

Don your spookiest costume and journey underground on a nail-biting, spine tingling ghoulish tour of the mysterious Marble Arch Caves!

tip: this event is weather dependent and must be pre-booked.

14:  HALLOWEEN HOWLER – Share Centre, Lisnaskea

Date: 31st October 2018
Time: 17:30 onwards
Price: £6 per child (anyone 14 years old and under), children under 2 free, parents go free

Perfect for your little howlers, come and enjoy a huge variety of family activities this Halloween.  Including a fantastic disco, traditional games, slide and a how-how-hooowl lot more!

Price: halloween event is free but venue admission charges apply

A great family event with lots of ghostly activities on offer.  You will need your wits about you if you want to avoid being captured by the witch.  Come along and enjoy a fun filled family afternoon!

Unearth a host of spooky characters rising from the rural landscape as you follow the eerie trail through the district. From Castlederg to Donemana, Strabane to Newtonstewart, catch sightings of scary witches, creepy spiders and weird aliens created by our young farmers and community groups.

18.  HALLOWEEN TORCHLIGHT TOURS – Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh

Date: 29th – 31st October 2018
Time: tours available at 16:00, 19:00 and 21:30 on each of the day (tours last 2h 15m)
Price: Adults £11.00, Children £6.00  (not recommended for children under 8)

Are you brave enough to take a ghostly and ghastly stroll through the outdoor museum?  The Folk Park will entertain you with fables and food to help you celebrate Halloween…but this tour is not for the faint hearted.

tip: wear good outdoor walking boots and wrap up warm.
