TOP 18 – HALLOWEEN EVENTS FOR KIDS IN NORTHERN IRELAND
Halloween, All Hallows Eve, Beggars Night, Day of the Dead and All Saint’s Day are just a few of the names given to the Celebration and Superstition of this centuries old festival.  Many believe Halloween links to Pagan ceremonies, others believe it’s a bit of harmless fun and a chance to dress up, play Trick or Treat and scare the living daylights out of someone just for fun. Whatever you think of Halloween, FOR or AGAINST, this is the guide for you if you are looking to take your children to a Halloween Event in Northern Ireland.

We have scoured the internet, searched local event guides and gazed into our crystal ball to bring you, what we think are, the TOP 18 Halloween Events For Kids in Northern Ireland to attend, thus saving you all the hassle of looking for yourself…aren’t we good to you, oh yes we are!  So, without further ado, lets crack on with our TOP 18…we have listed them in order of County to make it easier for you to see what’s on in your local area, and here they are:

ANTRIM
1.  HALLOWEEN MONSTER MASH AND FIREWORKS DISPLAY – Titanic Quarter, Belfast

Date: 29th October 2017
Time: 16:00 – 19:00
Price: free to all

Monster Mash is Belfast’s BIGGEST and BEST Halloween and Firework event.  Drop by the Titanic Quarters and celebrate the weird and wonderful this Halloween.  With breathtaking shows of fire, street-theatre and live music, you won’t have time to afraid of the monsters and ghouls.

tip: firework display commences just after 19:00, wrap up warm and take a lightweight waterproof jacket.

2.  BOO AT THE ZOO – Belfast

Date: 28th October 2017
Time: 10:00 – 16:00

Plenty to do at Belfast Zoo this Halloween.  Trick or Treat your little monsters to a day of ghoulish fun with lots of spooktacular activities including:

  • freaky face painting
  • creepy crafts
  • terrifying talks from the keepers

tip: don’t forget to dress to impress, children in FULL fancy dress receive FREE entry (t&c’s apply, see website).

3.  GHOULS AND GRUFFALO’S WELLY WALK – Belfast

Date: 28th – 31st October
Time: 11:00 and 14:00
Price: children £9pp, accompanying adults & under 2’s free

Search for Ghosts and Ghouls as you meander through the spooky Colin Glen Forest Park listening to stories as you go.  Pick and carve out a pumpkin and collect your ‘I have met the Gruffalo Certificate’ and Sticker on departure.

tip: take a raincoat, a good pair of walking shoes/boots and money for the gift shop.

ARMAGH
4.  HALLOWEEN CRAFTS AND GAMES CLUB – Palace Stables, Armagh

Date: 30th October 2017
Times: 10:00 – 16:00
Price: £12.50 for 1st child in family, £10.00 for 2nd & 3rd child.  Book before 23rd October & get 20% discount.

Cauldrons and creepy crafts await you at the Palace Stables.  Fancy dress is welcome.

tip: craft club is only available for children aged 5-12

5.  HALLOWEEN FEST AT THE ARGORY – Armagh

Date: 26th October  – 1st November 2017
Time: 12:00 – 16:00
Price: adults £6.00, children £2.50

Explore a horrid Halloween Trail at the Argory then gobble down ghoulish treats at the cafe.

tip: booking in advance is not required.

6.  LITTLE SPOOKS – Armagh

Date: 28th – 31st October 2017
Time: 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 18:00, 19:00 (time depends on the date of visit)
Price: all tickets £6.50, Under 4’s free

Explore the eerie unknown and help world famous vampire hunter Vera Courage search for Dracula’s Castle.  Will you dare to venture in?

tip: under 4’s still require a ticket even though they are free.

DERRY/LONDONDERRY
7.  AWAKENING THE WALLS – Derry

Date: 28th – 30th October 2017
Time: 18:00 – 20:30
Price: free to all

Be careful what you wish for, for you are among warlocks and witches, your screams will not be heard.  Celebrate all things supernatural as you walk a trail around the City Walls.

tip: as there are some steps on the trail, provision will be made for disabled access.

8.  HALLOWEEN HAPPENINGS – Coleraine

Date: 28th October 2017
Time: 15:00 – 22:00
Price: free to all

With ferocious fire juggling and a host of creepy characters, Coleraine doesn’t disappoint at Halloween.

tip: don’t feel left out, dress to impress.

9.  HALLOWEEN STREET CARNIVAL PARADE – Derry

Date: 31st October 2017
Time: 19:00
Price: free to all

Street performers from around the world descend on the Walled City for a night of illuminated spectacle like no other.  A frightastic carnival atmosphere with frightening floats and fearless fiends.

tip: arrive early, the parade is extremely popular and gets very busy, and be sure to stay and watch the spectacular fireworks which commence at 20:15 along the river bank.

DOWN
10:  PIRATE GHOST SHIP PARTY – Portaferry

Date: 28th – 31st October 2017
Time: 10:00 – 17:00 (last admission 16:00)
Price: adults £9.50, children 2-16 £8.00, under 2’s free (family ticket concessions available)

A spooky sunken ship rises from it’s watery resting place and ghostly pirates run amok.  Will you return them to their watery grave or will you walk the plank?

11.  PUMPKINFEST AT CASTLEWARD – Strangford

Date: 21st – 22nd October 2017
Time: 10:00 – 16:00
Price: adult £8.18, children £4.09 (family ticket concessions available)

If scooping out brains isn’t for you, have a go at pumpkin carving instead.  Pick your pumpkin, create a scarily artistic design, then sit back and feel proud of your creation.

tip: take a camera to capture the wonderful autumn colours around the estate.

12.  SPELLBOUND FESTIVAL AT CASTLE ESPIE – Comber

Date: 29th – 31st October 2017
Time: 12:00 – 16:00 (plus halloween horror trail which is open all day)
Price: adult £6.91, children 4-16 £3.36, under 4’s free (family ticket concessions available)

You will be spellbound at all the spooky goings on at Castle Espie.  Take care not to waken the wolves, they just love hoooowlaween.

tip: Jump, Jiggle and Jive Broomstick Disco must be pre-booked in advance.

FERMANAGH
13.  HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR AT MARBLE ARCH CAVES – Enniskillen

Date: 28th October 2017
Time: 11:00 – 16:30
Price: adult £9.50, children £6.50

Marvel at the monsters who meander through the Marble Arch Caves.  Grow your nails so you have something to bite on this spine-chilling tour.

tip: this event is weather dependent and must be pre-booked.

14:  HALLOWEEN HOWLER – Lisnaskea

Date: 31st October 2017
Time: 18:00 – 22:00
Price: £6 per child (anyone 14 years old and under) parents go free

Fiendish face painting, blood thirsty balloon modelling, freakish fancy dress parade and a whole lot more.  Happy Howlaween.

tip: prizes will be awarded for the scariest costume, children must be accompanied by an adult.

15: HALLOWEEN FEST AT FLORENCE COURT – Enniskillen

Date: 29th October 2017
Time: 12:00 – 16:00
Price: halloween event is free but venue admission charges apply

Frighten yourself silly with a spooky tour of Florence Court.  Be vigilant, you never know who or what is waiting for you around the next corner. Be afraid, be very afraid!

tip: booking in advance is not required.

TYRONE
16.  WALKING WITH SHADOWS AT AN CREAGÁN – Omagh

Date: 28th October 2017
Time: 18:00 -20:00
Price: £3 per child

Will you dare to walk among the shadows and see who or what is lurking nearby?  Keep your lantern lit…and keep your eyes peeled.

tip: family friendly event with a great gift shop on site

17.  MONSTROUS HALLOWEEN WORKSHOPS – Strabane

Date: 29th October 2017
Price: £3pp
Time:

  • 10:00 – 11:00 (2 workshops running simultaneously)
  • 11:10 – 12:10 (2 workshops running simultaneously)

Mix and Match body parts to make your very own art and craft monster, but beware…there may be something lurking in the closet, could it be a skeleton?

tip: book early to avoid disappointment.

18.  HALLOWEEN FUN DAY AT THE ULSTER AMERICAN FOLK PARK – Omagh

Date: 24th – 31st October 2017
Time: 11:00 – 16:00
Price: Adults £9.00, Children 5-17 £5.50, under 5’s free

Are you brave enough to stay…and have fun!  The Folk Park will entertain you with fables and food to help you celebrate the history of Halloween.

tip: great venue to spend 4-5 hours and learn about the history of the park at the same time.
