FUTURE TRAVELS

WHAT DOES 2018 HOLD FOR AROUND THE WORLD IN 18 YEARS?

2018 is officially the launch year for Around The World In 18 Years, and we are super excited to be able to bring our travel experiences to your smartphones, laptops and living rooms.  Our mission is to take you with us on a virtual journey every trip we take and to encourage other families to try D-I-Y Holidays and break away from comfort (and cost) of a package holiday.

For our first year as Bloggers, we intend to do 18 things, some quite extravagant, and others not so.

Our first trip of the year is planned for February, a child-free night away to Smugglers Creek Inn, Rossnowlagh for a TRAD Irish Music Night.  And next on the list, a trip to Italy in March to teach the children how to ski, although, we hasten to add that Mummy and Daddy have never tried skiing, just snowboarding many, many years ago in Banff, Canada.

So, what else is on our 18 Things To Do List for 2018?

UPDATE:

September 2018 and we have already managed to tick 14 ‘To Do’s’ from our 2018 adventure list.  Prior to travelling to Italy in July we booked a boat tour to see Cinque Terre, unfortunately the company let us down last minute…and we do mean last minute!  We were more than disappointed especially as we had made the 2 hour journey from our campsite in Trieste specifically for this tour.  In the end, we spent the day in Venice and then watched the fireworks at the Festa del Redentore (Festival of the Redeemer).

As we were in Venice we had hoped to take a romantic serenaded Gondola ride on the canals, but alas it wasn’t to be as heavy rain, plus thunder and lightening; put a damper on this.  Looks like we will have to go back to our favourite European country once more…beautiful Italy.

Before children came along we had the privilege of attending Oktoberfest in Munich.  The Weekend was spent with our good friends David and Sonja (we met them whilst diving in the Maldives), and filled with traditional Bavarian music…as well as the odd Weissbier.  Knowing how good the atmosphere is, both for adults and children, we had hoped to return and introduce our girls to the festival and the German culture.  Although we are still in touch, not as often as we’d like, we haven’t seen D & S since their wedding back in 2008.  We hoped to meet up and introduce our girls to their daughter.  Sadly we’re having to put this on the back-burner until 2019.

Our 18 Things to Do List 2019 will be published over the coming weeks, watch this space.

We hope you will connect with us and read all about our adventures, and do feel free to comment on and share our posts.

Safe travels.
